Problem
Historically, Sinomax relied on live studio photography to produce high-quality images for its eCommerce business. This approach, however, proved to be a rigid, costly, and time-consuming process. Producing these assets required multiple steps: developing physical samples, shipping them to a studio, and arranging product and environment styling. Sinomax would typically schedule two large photo shoots per year, consolidating many products at once to maximize the efficiency of live studio time, but this arrangement in many ways delays product launches when all other product data (other than imagery) is otherwise ready to go.
The live photography approach also posed challenges with brand differentiation. With the need to efficiently shoot product in allotted studio time, the number of sets and prop customization is a huge constraint.
